Most Americans, defending Joe Biden, do not understand that most knew Afghanistan was going to fall into the hands of the Taliban. That’s not the issue.
The issue is how nonchalant the Biden Administration is handling it. The difference between the outcome of Biden vs. Trump is that had Trump won a second term; things would have been different, especially have the former President kept the Middle East in check with the Mother of All Bomb drop early in his administration.
The Taliban knew that Biden wouldn’t do anything once they retook the country. They had no fear of retribution, and he confirmed it.
Biden – “I inherited this decision.” True… but you didn’t inherit the execution of the decision. I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m sure disappointed to see a trillion of our hard-earned tax dollars handed over to the Taliban in the form of lethal weapons.
Joe’s probably right that it was a lost cause, but that doesn’t excuse his failure to execute the withdrawal effectively. He could have listened to his advisors and adjusted the timing. He could have got Americans and Afghanis who helped the u.s. Out before the troop withdrawal even began. And his dismissive attitude is cold. He actually left for his vacation at the moment that international crises escalated from bad to worse, as though he couldn’t be bothered.
I’d skip the “advisors” and use a little common sense to get rid of senior military “leaders” who orchestrated this disaster. This was a plan for massive failure.
Didn’t it seem that 90% of his speech was directed at defending the decision to withdraw, as if someone, anyone, had complained about this? Yes, we needed to get out, but NOT like this. Just like all the atrocities that have happened to the migrants coming to the southern border, the suffering of the people dependent on the protection of the US in Afghanistan is squarely on Biden’s shoulders.
I could not help but think back to another war we were in. Uncle Joe stated today that we had provided Afghanistan with the training, salaries, and vast amounts of military equipment; however, their military lacked to will to fight. This was the same line fed to the American people after the US left Vietnam. Uncle Joe was in the Senate during that time. If he could only remember what day it is, he would have known those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
When there are tons of people hanging off an airplane and running for their lives due to a decision the President of the United States made, he’s gotta go…full stop. This is a gaff that other countries can pull off but not the most powerful in the world. If Americans allow him to get away with what he’s done, we definitely aren’t going to be the most powerful country in the world soon.
Biden would like you to believe that the Afghanistan military didn’t have the will to fight. Still, he doesn’t tell you that he withdrew all the military advisors and civilian contractors that support the Afghan military, including all necessary logistical assistance for their air assets! So, my guess is Biden went against everything our intelligence services advised against him doing.
At this point, Biden can point fingers at other people, but he gave the ok for this mess. The public sees this Joe, you’ve failed in every area foreign policy, economy, COVID, oil dependency, etc. I am comfortable in my position to say that nobody can name one successful policy by Joe, can they?
Biden reversed Trump’s policies on Iranian sanctions, the Keystone Pipeline, Energy independence, tax reform, and reduced regulation for employers as well as school choice, and the only policy he kept in place was Trump’s Afghanistan plan, but It’s Trump’s fault? Weird. Why throw away all of Trump’s triumphs and keep only the one that failed? Or was it just you, Joe?
