What would make more sense than a podcast series featuring former President Barak Obama and a recently arrested for alleged drunk driving has been rock musician Bruce Springsteen?
Apparently Spotify could not think of anything and went with it.
The unlikely pair debuted a new podcast on Monday where the they discuss topics ranging from fatherhood and marriage to race and the state of America.
The eight-episode series, called “Renegades: Born in the U.S.A.,” is available exclusively through Spotify Technology SA’s music streaming service. The first two episodes were released on Monday.
In the introduction to episode one, Obama said he and his family and friends had been discussing divisions in the United States and how “we find our way back to a more unifying American story.” One of his friends, Obama said, “just happened to be Mr. Bruce Springsteen.”
“On the surface, Bruce and I don’t have a lot in common,” Obama added. “But over the years, what we’ve found is that we’ve got a shared sensibility. About work, about family and about America. In our own ways, Bruce and I have been on parallel journeys trying to understand this country that’s given us both so much.”

Springsteen was arrested at Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, on November 14 and charged with DWI, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area.
“SPRINGSTEEN smelt strongly of alcohol coming off his person and had glassy eyes,” the arresting officer said in a statement, adding he “was visibly swaying back and forth while I observed his eyes.”
Since the arrest, there have been mainstream media reports that downplay the incident and make Springsteen out to be a “victim.”
What are the odds the case goes away, paving the way for the podcast to move forward inhibited?
The podcast was unveiled as Spotify announced it would launch in 85 new markets in the next few days, making the service available to more than 1 billion people around the world.
Hats off to Spotify for embracing the opportunity to have two progressive liberal has-beens sit around and pick apart the woes of America, propelling an agenda that will transform our country from anything recognizable that half of the population despises.
I wonder if the fact checkers and censor police will monitor this series for disseminating false information.
