I am a Gen Xer, and I remember when I was a little girl, my parents always watched ABC Nightly News with Peter Jennings. It was on every single night and the one thing I can tell you about that memory is I never knew which political party Peter supported, and I still don’t.

I grew up in a very political family. I have been a Republican since the day I could talk. My parents, my grandparents, my aunts, uncles, cousins, we’re all Republicans, so I kind of grew up in a conservative bubble. And that bubble got popped for the first time in 2016 when President Trump opened my eyes to a lot of things – the party I had supported my entire life was a sham, and the media that I thought was so fair and balanced was actually a massive propaganda machine.

Looking back now, with all I know and understand about the media, I realize that Peter Jennings was probably pushing a ton of propaganda, but I didn’t know it, because the veil hadn’t been lifted yet. He didn’t have to expose himself and show his bias, because the media was still operating in the shadows back then. It wasn’t until President Trump shined a bright light on them, that everything crumbled, and we could see their true colors.

Certainly, the media has been pushing propaganda for eons now, I get that – but one media expert artfully pinpointed when they actually “turned” on the American people… He identifies the moment the media that we know today, made their first bold move against us.

It was 1991.

Peter Wolfgang is a media bias expert, and he just wrote a brilliant piece on what happened in 1991 that was a signal of things to come.

As we round out the end of 2021, I’m struck by how the media year-end retrospectives I’ve seen so far remind me of the ones from thirty years ago. Remember 1991? I do. Here is what I remember.

Back in 1991
I remember that we won the Persian Gulf War. Amazing, lighting-quick victory. Very few casualties. A coalition comprising almost every nation on the planet. I remember the victory parades in NYC and Washington, DC. I was personally present at the one in DC. Tanks rolling down American streets in celebration. Fighter jets flying overhead.

It was very unusual for the USA. More the sort of parade that occurred every year in the USSR. But we deserved it.

We had essentially just won the Cold War without firing a shot. And the Gulf War victory parades were almost a sort of stand-in for a Cold War victory parade. Like the celebrations that occurred at the end of World War II. The famous image of the soldier kissing the woman and all that.

In fact, the Soviet Union did collapse that year. It was officially disbanded on Christmas Day.

That was Year-End 1991. That was huge.

The USSR had terrorized its own people, and the world, for 70 years. The USA and the USSR had been in a Cold War for 40-some years which, at times, had brought the human race to the brink of extinction.

And it all ended so well in 1991.

The Media’s 1991
So what did the media focus on most in its year-end wrap-up issues at the end of 1991? The stuff I just mentioned?

No. They focused on Anita Hill.

***FOLLOW US ON CLOUDHUB***

You remember. She had accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment during his confirmation hearings. In a post-Brett Kavanaugh world, the thing seems almost tame. There were no front page New York Times stories accusing Thomas of being a gang rapist. But a lot accepting Hill’s claim that he was an abuser.

But at year-end 1991, the media made sure it was the one thing you remembered about the year. The far-greater historical things I just mentioned were comparatively downplayed.

Why? Because Anita Hill fit the narrative. The Republican party hated women. Nominating Clarence Thomas proved it. (And let’s not forget what a threat a conservative black justice was to the Democrats, who claimed to speak for all black Americans.)

They’d roll back women’s rights — and not just the “right” to abortion. The party served “powerful males” who’d oppress the poor and racial minorities as well as women. The narrative was crucial to liberal hopes. A year later the Democrats rode “the Year of the Woman” theme to electoral victory.

Peter explains how 1991 and 2021 (and 2022) are very similar. It’s the same “messaging” format. The only thing Dems want you to remember about 2021 is what fits their narrative… and all of that hinges right now on January 6th – this is the basket where they’ve placed all their eggs since COVID has run its course and turned out to be a dud for Biden.

Right now, the best thing they can use to gaslight the American people is January 6th.

As Peter points out, back in 1991, Dems wanted us to forget the Gulf War and the collapse of the USSR…

All they wanted us to remember was Anita Hill.

And in 2021 they wanted us to forget how Joe Biden botched Afghanistan, COVID, and destroyed the US economy. They also desperately want us to forget that Joe Biden clearly has some form of Dementia or Alzheimer’s.

All they want us to remember is January 6th.

Sure, the media has been in the propaganda business from the get-go, I get that — but they started this particular “game,” with these particular “rules” back in 1991, and they’ve successfully continued playing this game for 30-s0me years now.

The biggest question is this:

Will 2022 finally be the year that we all say “ENOUGH” and break the cycle?
