New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who came under fire this week after reports emerged that COVID-19-related nursing home deaths may have been grossly underreported while at the same time he hailed himself as a hero, took a page out of the Democrats’ playbook when something goes wrong.
Blame Donald Trump, of course. That’s their answer to nearly every problem that crops up and probably will be for months and years to come.
According to the Washington Examiner, Cuomo, during a highly-anticipated news conference earlier today, had a lot of excuses ready to deploy, but led off by blaming the Trump administration.
“Where this starts, is, frankly, a political attack from the prior federal administration and HHS and their great spokesman Michael Caputo, who was a protégé of Roger Stone,” Cuomo said.
The bombshell report concerning the underreporting of nursing home deaths was released this week by New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Caputo, who was the assistant secretary of public affairs for the Health and Human Services Department in the Trump administration, slammed Cuomo last year after he ordered nursing homes to accept patients who had been discharged after battling COVID-19, which caused an uproar on both sides of the political aisle.
The former assistant secretary also fired back on Friday after finding out Cuomo began the presser by blaming his work under Trump.
“Cuomo is personally responsible for thousands of unnecessary nursing home deaths, and he must be held accountable,” Caputo said. He went on in his statement to point out that he’d spoken with the loved ones of those who died under Cuomo’s watch, including Fox News weather personality Janice Dean.

The New York Attorney General’s report indicated that there were actually some 1900 deaths instead of the 120o or so that were initially reported, as Cuomo apparently didn’t count the ones who contracted COVID-19 in the nursing home who were then sent to the hospital and died there, instead.
Cuomo, who also likes to remind reporters that he’s a “man of faith” was quick to blame God for the COVID-19 pandemic, once again ducking any responsibility for the state’s gross mismanagement of the crisis.
“But they are in my thoughts and prayers. I believe… why COVID? Why did God do this? I don’t know. I don’t know. But it was cruel and it was terrible and it still is,” Cuomo said.
It sounds like Cuomo has some serious soul-searching to do and should probably stop blaming God and Trump for the atrocities that happened under his command.
