Vice President Kamala Harris refrained from blaming unvaccinated persons for the latest coronavirus outbreak, instead urging Americans to take responsibility for their health and obtain their immunizations and booster doses.

Harris said in an exclusive interview with CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday that “it is no one’s fault that this virus has reached our shores or the rest of the globe” and emphasized that now is not the time to point fingers.

“It’s more about individual power and responsibility, and, without a doubt, it’s about the choices that everyone has,” Harris told CBS’s Margaret Brennan. “It is apparent that everyone has the capacity to save their lives and avoid hospitalization by being vaccinated and receiving the booster, and I strongly encourage everyone to do so.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, around 62% of eligible Americans are completely vaccinated, and approximately 32% of eligible persons have had a booster injection.

As COVID-19 cases spread throughout the nation as a result of the highly contagious Omicron strain, Dr. Anthony Fauci warned Americans of a “very dark period ahead” in mid-January as the virus spreads.

Meanwhile, experts are hurrying to guarantee that testing and injections against the new variety are successful. Moderna asserted that their booster injection boosts antibody levels against the Omicron variation, however GlaxoSmithKline stated that its antibody medication is effective against all Omicron mutations.

Harris previously said that the Biden administration was unaware of the Omicron version or its level of effect.

“We were unaware of Omicron’s approach. And that is the nature of this heinous virus, which, as it turns out, has mutations and variations “According to Harris, the Los Angeles Times.

Harris reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to advancing the Build Back Better agenda during Sunday’s interview, while also addressing the lack of movement on voting rights legislation and the contentious pullout from Afghanistan earlier this year.
