Reporters Grimace At Psaki After Joe’s Stunt In Atlanta Backfires, ‘Jen, Is It The Most Effective Use Of The…

Well, Joe Biden’s voting rights push has already blown up in his face and even the press knows it.

During a trip to Atlanta, Joe Biden ranted like a senile old man about voting rights in a poor attempt to force the Senate to dump the filibuster.

High-profile Democrats in Georgia were annoyed by the visit and stayed away from it.

Democrats in Georgia leaked how angry they were about the visit to the Atlanta Journal Consitution:

Behind the scenes, we spoke with other senior Democrats whose complaints go even further.

“Georgians know the importance of voting rights and so do the senators we elected,” said one prominent state Democrat. “Why the heck are they leaving Washington – where people need convincing to pass legislation – to come to Georgia where no one needs convincing?”

Several said they weren’t involved in the planning stages of the event, and two officials expressed privately the same frustration outlined by the coalition of activists.

“We could have told them how Georgians would feel, if only they had asked,” said one.

Others questioned why there’s no fundraising event for Georgia candidates tied to the visit. Biden raised more than $500,000 for then-Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms last year, though the donors were refunded after she decided against a run for a second term.

Democrats in Georgia and the press know that Schumer doesn’t have the votes to get rid of the filibuster and Biden’s speech is only going to make him look even more incompetent when the whole scheme fails. Not even 24 hours after Biden’s speech Senator Sinema’s office confirmed she is not going to vote in favor of dumping the filibuster.

Now the press is desperately trying to steer Biden from more doom and asked Press Secretary Jen Psaki if the president is wasting his time.

A reporter asked, “Jen, is it the most effective use of the President’s time that — he essentially needs the vote of two senators to get this passed. So, is a speech like this the most effective use of his time? And were Senators Manchin and Sinema invited on this trip?”

“I don’t have any more details. Obviously, the delegation with us today is from Georgia, primarily. So, that’s — and that’s pretty standard for travel,” Psaki answered. “In terms of whether it’s a good use of his time: Yes, the President, we, civil rights leaders, the delegation traveling with us today feel that it is a good use of the President of the United States’ time to use the bully pulpit to make the case for why voting rights, the protection of them, fighting against efforts by Republicans in 19 states and more to perpetuate the Big Lie and make it more difficult to exercise your fundamental right is something people shouldn’t stand for.”

Whatever you say Jen.
